Where we are?

Our house is located in Brunate (CO), in a unique panoramic position overlooking Lake Como. From the windows and balconies of your apartment, on clear days, you can admire a beautiful slice of Northern Italy and even Switzerland. Casa di Emanuele is the last property and borders the woods. The whole house is surrounded by a large fenced garden where you can walk freely.

Our address is…

Via Monte Rosa 26
22034 Brunate (CO)

You can’t miss it because the road ends at a panoramic spot.

I live in the house near yours, with my wife Monica and my two Labradors, Oliver and Lilibet.

You can easily park near the house. There are usually no parking problems. From where you leave the car, just go down the stairs on the other side of the square and enter the second gate on the left.

How to get to Como?

If you arrive by train

If you’re departing from “Milano Centrale”, you’ll arrive at Como San Giovanni. The trains are faster and usually continue on to Switzerland. If you’re departing from “Milano Cadorna”, the train will arrive at “Como Nord Lago” and it will be a bit slower. However, you’ll arrive near the Funicular station.

Make sure to check the train schedules, especially if you’re arriving in the evening.
Remember, once you arrive in Como, your journey isn’t over yet. You still need to go up to Brunate. So, keep in mind that besides the train, you’ll also need to take the Funicular (read the paragraph below). Click here to check the Funicular schedules.
If you have heavy luggage and prefer not to walk to the Funicolare, I can try to arrange a transfer for you. Please, let me know if you need my help at least one or two days before your arrival.

Como railway stations

Como has two main train stations: “Como San Giovanni” and “Como Nord Lago”

If you arrive by plane

There are three airports near Milano and Como. Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio. From all these airports, you can take a train or a bus to reach Como.
Important! In Italy, UBER doesn’t exist (or it doesn’t work). But you can take a TAXI from the airport.

In case of need, I will be happy to help you with a transfer (PAY ATTENTION. I need time to organize everything. Please, let me know if you need my help few days before your arrival).
If you land at Linate or Bergamo Orio al Serio, the easiest thing to do is to go to “Milano Centrale” railway station and from there take a train to Como.

Milan Malpensa
Milan Linate
Milan Bergamo Orio

If you arrive by car

There is always the possibility of free parking near the house. Just remember that the road to get to the house is a bit narrow and during the summer it’s possible to come across more than one car going up or down. Especially during rush hours, there’s a risk of having to make some maneuvers.

If you’re coming from Milan, I recommend setting your GPS to Como to make sure it takes you on the highway. Enter the final address in Brunate only after arriving in Como city. This way you’ll be sure to take the best route.

In any case, the recommended A9 highway exit is “Como Centro”.

Getting to and from Brunate

Funicolare

The Funicular is a special train that goes up to Brunate. The Funicular station is located right in front of the lake, in the center of Como. During the summer, departures are every 15 minutes and the last run departs at 11:30 PM (check the schedule here).

In spring and summer, especially during peak hours and on weekends, it’s likely to find a long queue to go up and down from Brunate. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to do but be patient. The only thing I can suggest is try to avoid the busiest times, before lunch or in the afternoon.

Round-trip tickets can be purchased:

  • In Como, directly at the Funicular station
  • In Brunate, at the bar located above the Funicular station

When you arrive in Brunate, to get to the house, take the lower exit (going down the stairs). Outside the Funicular, turn right. After about 300 meters, you’ll come across a junction, keep left and take the road downhill. Another 300 meters and at the next junction turn right, onto the flat road. Another 400 meters and you have arrived.
